首款支持 x64 (AMD64/x86-64/Intel64) 架构的 Windows，基于 Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition 构建。用于支持 64 位的高性能工作站等计算机。

注意：Windows XP Professional x64 Edition 和 Windows XP 64-Bit Edition 是两款不同的产品。 前者用于 x64 (AMD64/x86-64/Intel64) 架构的计算机，后者用于 IA64 架构的计算机（Version 2002 为 Windows NT 5.1内核，Version 2003 为 Windows NT 5.2 内核）。

不过早期的 Windows XP Professional x64 Edition 测试版常被自我识别为 Windows XP 64-Bit Edition。除此之外，Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition 中文版依靠工具强行转换为 Client 后，在安装程序自我介绍时也会显示为 Windows XP 64-Bit Edition。
