Windows ME 全称为 Windows Millennium Edition，于 2000 年 9 月 14 日发布，是一款完全面向个人市场的家用操作系统

作为 Windows 9x 系列产品线上的最后一款系统，Windows ME 修复了 Windows 98 上的种种错误，除此之外，它最大的亮点就是不再像传统 9x 那样完全以 DOS 为载体运行，ME 实现了半脱离 DOS 环境运行（也就是限制 DOS 的实体模式运行），这也是 ME 的开机速度能超过任何一款 9x 产品的原因

不过作为家用兼Win9x——NT的过渡版本，Windows ME 还是出现了各种各样的 bug，我们认为是他的开发尚未成熟导致的，因为 Windows ME 的开发周期只有一年左右的时间
